Francesco Guelfi
"Don't find the fault; find the remedy" (Henry Ford)
About
He has been a partner and head of the Tax Department of Allen & Overy, an international law firm in Italy, for over 20 years. He is present in 31 countries with 44 offices and more than 5,500 professionals and staff.
Born in Parma but Milanese by adoption, he graduated in Economics from Bocconi University and then earned a second degree in Law from the State University of Parma.
He began his career in 1997 at Andersen Legal, one of the "Big Five," the group of leading financial statement audit and consulting firms for large companies, before joining Ernst & Young Italia and Allen & Overy, where he has been a partner in the firm since 2009. Francesco has over twenty years of experience advising Italian and international financial institutions, multinational companies, and institutional investors. He has recognized expertise ranging from all issues related to domestic and international taxation, tax litigation, and taxation of M&A transactions to financial regulation, covering a wide range of sectors, including funds and banks, real estate and NPLs, and industrial and manufacturing.
Francis is a member of Allen & Overy's local committee that supports charitable giving projects in favor of the local community and has served on the Allen & Overy Global committee, which has carried out important projects over the years through collaborations with non-profit organizations such as War Child and Amref Health Africa. He also does pro bono work, providing free legal assistance to those who cannot access it.
Francis's free time is devoted to diving and sailing, primarily to his 5-year-old son. Passionate about watches, cinema-particularly classic action movies-and food and wine, he has found the Sicilian countryside, where he can relax with his family, and started a small oil production.
