The founder

Alfonso De Gaetano, a 43-year-old of Italian descent, has spent the past 15 years in Dubai. After an ankle injury, as a professional soccer player Alfonso launched his career in business and technology spending the last ten years at Google, where he is currently Director of Google Publishers' business in emerging markets in EMEA. Burgundy is the place that first made him fall in love with wine. From the French region Alfondo often makes long car trips to his wineries around Europe to ensure that the bottles arrive safely and in perfect condition. Alfonso founded Crurated in 2021 to create a community of connoisseur members who gather virtually and physically around the world to discover, learn, and buy wine directly from the best wineries.

A few numbers

Crurated has raised €3 million with investors including noted wine expert Chris Van Aeken, Dip WSET, successful entrepreneurs, and other private wine collectors. In its first year, Crurated generated over €5 million in excess revenue.

Technology platform

Crurated offers customers full traceability of purchased goods from the moment a bottle of wine leaves a producer's cellar to the moment it arrives in the buyer's hands. This is thanks to an infrastructure that connects Crurated's marketplace to its warehouse management system and blockchain infrastructure.

Crurated creates a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) for each bottle of wine that enters the warehouse. The NFT provides detailed information about the history of previous owners, vintage of the wine, vineyard location, grape variety, and other key details. NFTs are easily accessed by tapping an NFC or RFID-enabled phone. The bottle history is also updated via a new blockchain record each time the wine is resold and the token is transferred from one customer to another.

Explorer is a free membership and offers the opportunity to purchase some of the great wines our producers offer each week;
Connoisseur is the 360 euro annual subscription;
Collector is the 1,800 euro annual subscription;
Ambassador is the €6,000 annual subscription and allows customers access to the full range of wines, participate in exclusive private sales and be included in Wine Dinners with producers, as well as unlimited free storage in the customs warehouse of everything purchased on Crurated.
